Marlene Strang / Leanne Schmidt
Leanne Schmidt is founding artistic director and choreographer of Leanne Schmidt and Company, whose mission is to present dance that is human, vulnerable and accessible. She has been presenting work throughout New York City since 2006 at venues including Triskelion Arts and has been a guest artist at Kent State University, American University, among others. Leanne is currently collaborating with Marlene Strang and comedy improvisers on comedic dance theater work. Leanne holds a MFA in Dance from Arizona State University, is a yoga instructor, and an Adjunct Professor in Dance at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
Marlene Strang is an educator, choreographer, and performer based in Arizona. She is an Adjunct Professor in Dance at Grand Canyon University, Board Member of Dance and the Child International, and co-founder of the Arizona Young Artist Intensive. She served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Colorado Ballet and dance programming associate at the Kennedy Center. Marlene has been a guest artist at the Denver Art Museum, Cherry Creek Art Denver Festival, Anne Green Gilbert’s Kaleidoscope Dance Company, Colorado Ballet, Metropolitan State University, and many others. Presently she is collaborating with Leanne Schmidt to launch a Phoenix Dance Comedy festival.
