Marissa Brown is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from the University of California Irvine with a BFA in Dance Performance and BFA in Dance Choreography. Her work has been shown at various venues in Southern California and in San Francisco, CA. In New York, her work has been shown with the CURRENT SESSIONS, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Triskelion Arts, BAX Upstart Festival, IDACO Festival, and MNE Emerging Choreographer Series. Her work has been commissioned for dance company The Assembly as well as for the apparel brand American Apparel. She works in the contemporary field of dance performance and creation, exploring movement as a physical language with reoccurring themes of desire and loneliness, and creating work driven by honesty to find human connection. She creates dance and video work under the name Lone King Projects.
