Alisyn Hurd


Alisyn Hurd of Flint, MI is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Vertical Ambition Dance Company (VADC). VADC is based in Modern dance as well as traditional Hip Hop forms, and the only professional company in the state with an active battling crew, competing in battles all across the Midwest. She has organized and judged various Breaking and All-Styles battles throughout Michigan, as well as Virginia. Alisyn is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of FLI-City Studios, an alternative dance education facility in Flint, MI that specializes in Breaking and focuses on making dance accessible to all regardless of income. Alisyn a.k.a. ShorteeRoc was the 2013 Central Michigan University Mainstage All-Styles Battle champion, the second place winner of the Original Vibe All-Styles Invitational and has battled her way to the quarter and semi finals in battles all across the country. She earned her Bachelor of Arts/Performing Arts in Dance from Oakland University in Rochester, MI in 2013 and recently graduated with her Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. In addition to directing VADC and FLI-City, Alsiyn has had the opportunity to be Adjunct Professor of Dance at Hollins University and is currently on faculty at the Flint School of Performing Arts holding the position of Director of the Youth Dance Ensemble.
